Rihanna at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis
Rihanna celebrates this years Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Jan 20) by sharing pictures from the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee. The Civil Rights Movement activist was assassinated at the property on April 4 1968 which is now part of the National Civil Rights Museum. According to Rihanna she visited the Museum in summer last year:
Finally found em’…. got cabin fever last summer and took a road trip to Memphis. MAN… I can’t describe the feeling that came over me, you gotta go to experience it for yourself! #MLK
Rihanna’s brands and foundation honor Martin Luther King Jr.
Even some of Rihanna’s brands remembered the activist by sharing quotes on social media. Fenty Beauty honored his legacy by sharing his question “life’s most persistent and urgent question is: What are you doing for others?“
Meanwhile her Clara Lionel Foundation shared the following words: “Everybody can be great because greatness is determined by service…You only need a heart full of grace and a soul generated by love.“
Rihanna already paid tribute to MLK in her politically-charged music video to “American Oxygen“ (2015). The video reveals archive footage including a shot of Martin Luther King Jr. in his coffin.
