Sportswear is getting real! Only a month after „WWD“ reported that SavageX might get into athletic wear, the brand founded by Rihanna is hiring a Product Developer (Sport). The TechStyle Fashion Group posted a new job ad on January 7 looking for someone to oversee and manage the development process of the new range.
SavageX is officially getting into sportswear
The new full time position will be responsible for product samples and mock-ups while also being in charge for designers, production teams and factories. SavageX requires the ideal candidate to have atleast 5-7 years experience in product development and cost negotiation and an AAS or Bachelor’s Degree in Product Development and Merchandising.
The job would be based at the Techstyle headquarters in El Segundo, California. SavageX is a joint venture between the 32-year-old singer and the fashion group. More than 50 employees already work on the success of Rihanna’s lingerie line that launched in May, 2018. So far, the new position received 17 applications through LinkedIn.
This is the first time the brand expands its core market lingerie and it comes only three years after Rihanna’s final collection with the German athletic brand Puma. However, as production takes some time, the new sportswear probably won’t arrive to the market until 2022 at the earlierst. Besides a first menswear line in October 2020, SavageX is also working on swimwear since last year.
According to the fan-run Twitter-account „savagexnews“ the company already designed and released more than 640 individual pieces of lingerie and is continuing its monthly releases. This year’s Valentine’s Collection is expected on Jan 14.
